Provides medical students with a unique opportunity to undertake a research project in the field of academic clinical oncology during their early years of study.

Open to all students, trainees and early career researchers interested in surgery and med tech.

8-week internships for undergraduates at the Wellcome offices in London every summer.

Undergraduate students within and outside of Imperial can apply. The programme provides structured undergraduate research experience, with clear preparation, supervision and outcomes.

A 3-month educational programme providing both an introduction to the landscape of medical device development and experience of interdisciplinary teamwork. Small teams of students and early career researchers & clinicians work to solve a real-life problem identified by our clinical partners, supported by interactive workshops and small-group mentoring covering approaches to clinical problems, concept generation, effective teamwork, business model development, and pitching. The teams produce an Executive Summary and pitch their ideas to a panel of judges from academia, industry, and clinical practice.

Internships across a range of sectors, including Health Data Research and Healthcare Management (for medics), specifically aimed at candidates who are Black African, Black Caribbean and/or Black British candidate studying at/or recently graduated from (2018 onwards) a UK university at undergraduate or post graduate level OR aged 18 and over who have completed their A-levels and who are on a gap year with the intention of undertaking higher education.

The newly launched Julia Anderson Training Programme at the Institute of Global Health Innovation (IGHI), Imperial College London, offers paid work experience for current students and recent undergraduates or postgraduates to support the delivery of an existing project or activity at IGHI across one or more of our work streams.
The goal of the programme is for trainees to develop the personal and professional skills we use day-to-day at IGHI, grow a professional network and come away with work experience that can enhance their CV and employability.
Training posts last 8 – 12 weeks and are advertised twice a year, depending on the project. These posts are currently being advertised:
Data Management & Communications Trainee, Big Data and Analytical Unit (BDAU)
Digital Health Trainee, Digital Health team
Education Trainee - marketing, planning and impact, Communications and Education team
For all three opportunities applications close 15 November 2021 for a start date in February 2022.

Mentoring is a great opportunity to volunteer with specific and measurable feedback as well as the added opportunities of teaching the students in groups or leading a school - integral skills for speciality training applications. The essay must be no longer than 1,000 words and include no more than 10 references. It must be in the form of Vancouver style referencing, include a maximum of one table or figure.

The University of Liverpool School has started their 2nd Health Tech Summer Internship scheme. University of Liverpool medical students can apply for 100hrs hours of paid work, with bursary provided by Santander UK. Check out Liverpool Med X Facebook page for lots more tech opportunities.

Elective Prize/Project Grant: 9 x £500
Deadline: 10 January (2 awards) and 10 May (7 awards) each year
Available, to medical students at UK or Irish universities who will be undertaking a research project or elective (overseas or UK) related to dermatology or skin biology. Applications must be made before the start of the project/elective period.
Essay Prize: £500 and 3 x £250
Deadline: 10 January each year
Title for 2023: TBC
The BAD annually sets an essay title on a topic related to dermatology and offers prizes of £500 for the winning essay and three runners-up prizes of £250 each. The prize is open to medical students studying at a university in the UK or Ireland. The essay must not exceed 1,000 words.
Intercalated Degree Grant: 2 x £3,000
Deadline: 10 May each year
Available to assist a UK or Irish medical student with an intercalated degree which includes a project that is relevant to dermatology and/or skin biology. As the fellowship is awarded in the middle of an academic year, applications will be accepted for on-going projects through that academic year or for projects to be carried out in the next academic year.

These awards provide undergraduates with hands-on experience of research during the summer holidays, with the aim of encouraging them to consider a career in research.
You can apply for a Biomedical Vacation Scholarship if you're studying for an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject and you want to find out more about research in the biomedical sciences. You MUST not be a graduate, intercalating / have already intercalated or have had substantial research experience.
Examples of relevant subjects include: science (including biomedical, natural, computing or physics), medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, engineering, mathematics.
Pay and duration: Living wage for 6-8 weeks in July.

The scheme offers 6-weeks research internships from the 4th July to the 12th August 2022, to four UK and Republic of Ireland residents who are studying at a UK or Republic of Ireland university for their undergraduate bachelor degree and are in their penultimate year of study. Internships will be suitable for those studying psychology, cognitive sciences, neuroscience or a related discipline.
Interns will join a current MRC CBU research group, work in a shared office at the MRC CBU, receive accommodation at Churchill College and be paid a weekly stipend of £200.
